Mark your calendars folks, this December just got way more exciting. AMD has made an announcement regarding a special event on 14 December called “New Horizon” – and it’ll be all about Zen CPUs. Interestingly, this announcement somehow makes previous rumours regarding a January 2017 launch much more likely.
In its official event page, AMD has stated that the event offers a ‘sneak preview’ of its new Zen CPU – but it did not specify which one it would be. In addition, the company has also mentioned that Peter “PPD” Dager, a Dota 2 player from Evil Geniuses, and other special guests will be making an appearance during the event to “put Zen through its paces.”
A short teaser video of the upcoming New Horizon event was also posted on AMD’s official Facebook page. Judging from the video itself, it seems that there will be plenty of live demos as well, which of course, includes LN2 overclocking. That said, it seems very unlikely that AMD will reveal too many details – pricing and date of availability – during the event.
However, we do expect AMD to at least reveal the official names and a few minor details of its upcoming Zen-based Summit Ridge CPUs during the event. Regardless, do keep in mind, again, that the event will take place on 14 December 2016 at around 5am local time. More details regarding AMD’s special New Horizon event can be found here.
