Samsung Malaysia will be releasing the Gear S3 smartwatch very soon. The successor to the well-received Gear S2 is set to be available in Malaysia in the coming weeks, and at a price that will appease smartwatch fans.
This year, Samsung has released two variants of the Gear S3: the Classic and Frontier editions. While both share the same internals, Samsung has designed the two to be distinctively different, making them appeal to different sections of the market.
The Gear S3 Classic builds upon the classy design of the Gear S2, which we reviewed last year, while the Frontier edition sports a more masculine look with a rotary dial that’s more textured – resulting in a look that’s reminiscent of a chronograph watch. The side buttons are also different: where the Classic features circular buttons, the Frontier sports rectangular textured ones.
Both smartwatches feature 360 x 360 1.3-inch circular displays, 768MB of RAM, and a larger 380mAh battery that Samsung claims would last three to four days per charge. They also have Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, NFC, and MST connectivity that allows the Gear S3 to be used for Samsung Pay transactions.
We can confirm that the Gear S3 Frontier will be priced at a very competitive RM1,399 – the same as the Gear S2 from last year. However, the Classic edition’s price remains unconfirmed – given that the two models are essentially the same besides some aesthetics, it may also be that it will be priced the same.
Whatever it is, we won’t have to wait long, as Samsung Malaysia is expected to announce the official pricing and availability in the coming days.
