Just earlier this month, Samsung introduced the Blue Coral Galaxy S7 edge in Malaysia; a colour that was previously available only on the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. Just recently, reports of Samsung releasing another new colour variant of the Galaxy S7 started surfacing, and it may be similar to the iPhone 7‘s new Jet Black colour.
Dubbed “Glossy Black” by many reports, this particular colour of the Galaxy S7 is actually different from the existing Black Onyx variant of the device. For one, the Black Onyx S7 has a somewhat matte finish. Judging by leaked images of the new Glossy Black colour, it does appear to have a more glossy finish.
Samsung’s decision to release different colours for its latest flagship device makes a lot of sense. Now that the Note 7 is no longer sold, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are really the company’s only high-end devices released this year. According to The Investor Korea, as many as 15,000 units of the Blue Coral S7 edge are sold daily on average.
Whether or not Samsung will indeed launch a new Glossy Black model of the Galaxy S7 – or the S7 edge – still remains to be seen. We will find out for sure next month in December.
