vivo has been relatively quiet on our shores after launching the vivo V3 and V3Max earlier this year. But today, the Chinese smartphone maker has introduced the vivo V5 in Malaysia, and it features a 20MP front-facing shooter.
Evidently, the V5 is targeted at those who take a lot of selfies. vivo mentioned that the V5’s 20MP front-facing camera comes with a “soft light” feature, which is really a camera flash. Regardless, the front-facing flash should prove to be helpful in capturing selfies in low light situations.
Other specifications of the vivo V5, on the other hand, are not particularly impressive. It features a 5.5-inch 720p display, a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 13MP rear camera, a 3,000mAh battery, as well as Funtouch OS 2.6 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Other than that, the vivo V5 also has a metal body and an AK4376 DAC, which are a given considering how much the device retails at.
The vivo V5 can now be pre-ordered in Malaysia for RM1,299 until the 25th of November 2016. The company mentioned that a complimentary gift box will be given for those who pre-order the device, although it’s only while stocks last. Interestingly, vivo also teased that the unannounced V5Plus – with a 20MP front-facing dual-camera system – will also be launched in Malaysia sometime in the future.
