We have been hearing about this particular feature for quite some time and it is now finally official: WhatsApp’s free and inter-platform video calling is coming to your smartphones very soon. Of course, that is provided you are using smartphones that are running on either Android, iOS, or Windows.
Just like what the service has provided for its text and voice chat, the new video calling feature will also be protected by end-to-end encryption. To make a video call, all users need to do is open a chat, press the call icon, and choose the video call option.
In terms of compatibility, the video calling feature is available for users with at least iOS 8 or Android 4.1 as well as Windows 10 Mobile or Windows Phone 8.1. However, the feature can’t be accessed through Windows 10 and Mac OS X desktop apps at the moment although that might change in the near future.
Meanwhile, the feature is being rolled out by stages as we speak. So, be sure to keep a look for it on your smartphone very soon.
