In the face of increased competition, Maxis has now increased its data quotas for the entire MaxisONE postpaid plans. This comes a little over six months after the company upgraded its postpaid offerings.
While the price tiers remain the same (MaxisONE 98, 128, 158, and 188), Maxis is now offering twice the total amount of data for each plan. However, a closer look will reveal two things: first, each plan sees an additional 5GB of all-day data, and secondly, the bulk of this “2x data” comes in the form of 4G weekend data. This weekend data is separate from the Data Pool feature, meaning they cannot be shared between principal and supplementary lines.
The new plans can be broken down as below:
The MaxisONE Share supplementary lines also get a bump in data quota, with 5GB all-day data complemented with an additional 5GB of weekend data. This potentially allows for some massive data quotas to be shared among friends and family via the Data Pool feature, which allows all primary and supplementary lines to share their data quota with each other.
As usual, all MaxisONE postpaid plans come with unlimited calls and SMS. MaxisONE World lets you use your MaxisONE postpaid plan when you roam overseas for RM38 a day alongside an additional 500MB data per day.
Maxis has also beefed up its video streaming services, now called Maxis TVNow. It has padded the existing streaming services (iflix, Viu, Eros Now, and Hopster) with two new and widely used services: Tonton and crucially, Netflix. As usual, principal subscribers get 5GB of dedicated data allocation for streaming on Maxis TVNow.
Most importantly, all existing MaxisONE subscribers will automatically be upgraded to this new plan, which goes live on 15 November. The migration for current subscribers will take place between 15-18 November.
