Asus has finally announced the availability of its highly anticipated ROG Claymore keyboard, which was first unveiled over a year ago at Computex 2015. One interesting feature about this keyboard is that it comes with a detachable numpad that can be reattached to either side of the keyboard.
The Asus ROG Claymore is gorgeously designed, from its black aluminium chassis all the way to its RGB-lit keys. Not to mention the fact that the keyboard is fully compatible with Asus’ Aura Sync ecosystem; meaning one can sync the RGB modes on this gaming keyboard with other Asus Aura products like its graphics cards and motherboards.
Speaking of which, the ROG Claymore gaming keyboard – like most gaming keyboards in the market – has different RGB lighting modes that range from static, breathing, colour cycle and many more. One lighting mode that may excite PC hardware enthusiasts is when the keyboard is lit based on the temperature of the CPU.
Of course, being a gaming keyboard means that the Asus ROG Claymore is fitted with “anti-ghosting keys with n-key rollover”, which could prove handy for RTS gamers. According to Asus, the gaming keyboard will come with different Cherry MX RGB switches: Red, Blue, Brown and Black. That aside, the detachable keypad is also fitted with what appears to be a scroll wheel of some sort.
Aside from the ROG Claymore, Asus has also announced the ROG Claymore Core gaming keyboard, which is essentially the same as the ROG Claymore, but it comes without the detachable numpad. Interestingly, Asus mentioned that the detachable keypad will be made available for consumers to purchase separately should they find a need for it in the future.
Unfortunately, the availability of the ROG Claymore and ROG Claymore Core gaming keyboards and their retail prices in Malaysia was not mentioned by Asus. However, folks at KitGuru stated that the ROG Claymore Core is priced at £140 (about RM738) in the UK, which is a pretty steep price for a ten-keyless keyboard.
