Zotac, notorious for manufacturing insanely powerful mini PCs, have announced a new product called the ZBOX Magnus ERX480. Interestingly, Zotac’s latest mini PC is the first of its kind to be equipped with a Polaris-based GPU – which in this case is the Radeon RX 480.
Don’t let the minuscular size of the Magnus ERX480 fool you though, it comes with impressive hardware. For starters, the mini PC is fitted with an Intel Core i5-6400T (up to 2.8GHz) processor along with two DDR4 RAM slots that’s capable of housing up to 32GB of RAM. Speaking of which, the ERX480 measures in at 210mm x 203mm x 62.2mm, which is pretty compact.
That aside, the pièce de résistance of the Magnus ERX480 mini PC would have to be its GPU, the Radeon RX 480 – mind you, that’s a desktop-grade GPU. As a result, not only will the mini PC be capable of running games at relatively decent framerates, it’ll also be VR capable as well. Video outputs include two HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.3 ports each.
Connectivity-wise, the Magnus ERX480 mini PC comes with two USB 3.0 ports; one USB 3.1 and USB 3.1 Type-C ports; as well as two USB 2.0 ports. There’s also a headphone jack along with a dual Gigabit LAN port. One issue that’s worth looking into before buying the Magnus ERX480 would be its noise output – mini PCs are widely known to be very loud.
Unfortunately, price and date of availability for the Zotac ZBOX Magnus ERX480 mini PC was not mentioned. However, given how ‘pricey’ Zotac’s Nvidia-based mini PCs are, we expect the ERX480 to be priced similarly. More information regarding the Magnus ERX480 can be found here.
