We already know that Malaysia is in the first wave of countries where the new Huawei Mate 9 will be launched, but we can also confirm that Huawei has concrete plans to release the sleek Porsche Edition Huawei Mate 9 to Malaysia as well.
Sources within the company revealed that Huawei is working on releasing the exclusive, limited run variant of the Mate 9 in Malaysia, though the timelines are a bit fuzzy. As expected, the US presidential elections hold a lot of sway in the US Dollar fluctuations, and for a product that will retail in Europe for a cool €1,395 (about RM6,500), the company is taking a cautious approach.
What will almost be certain, however, is the fact that the product will arrive in very limited quantities when it launches here in Malaysia. In fact, Huawei will not be producing a lot of this Mate 9 variant globally.
That’s perfectly justifiably, as just like other premium edition smartphones in the past, including previous Porsche Design collaborations with BlackBerry, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 will not be a mass consumer product – the high retail price means the device will appeal only to a certain few.
