It’s finally here: after almost five months since the device was officially announced, Lenovo has brought in the Moto Z into Malaysia. We haven’t seen a flagship device from Moto enter the local market in quite some time now, and the Moto Z is here to change that. Surprisingly enough, the Moto Z Play is also launched here today.
Let’s start with the more interesting device of the two: the Moto Z. As Moto’s latest flagship smartphone, it’s packing quite impressive hardware. It features a 5.5-inch 1440p AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a 13MP f/1.8 rear camera with optical image stabilisation, a 5MP front-facing shooter, as well as a modest 2,600mAh battery.
Then we have the more affordable Moto Z Play. It’s equipped with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, and a generous 3,510mAh battery. The Moto Z Play also has a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, a 5MP front snapper, and much like the Moto Z, a fingerprint sensor.
Launched alongside these modular phones are of course the many Moto Mods. These include the RM1,399 Insta-Share Projector, the RM1,299 Hasselblad True Zoom Camera, the JBL SoundBoost Speaker (it goes for RM599), as well as the Incipio offGRID Power Pack, which retails at RM499. There are also various Style Shells available, which are priced from RM59 to RM79.
Both the Moto Z and Moto Z Play – which retail at RM2,699 and RM1,799 respectively – will be available for pre-order on Lazada and 11street on 4 November 2016. Lenovo is also offering the first 50 pre-order customers – on each online retailer – the JBL SoundBoost Speaker Moto Mod. The Moto Z, Moto Z Play and the Moto Mods will be available in Malysia at the end of November.
