There’s only about a day more to go to Apple’s “Hello again” event, but that is not going to stop the leaks from coming. According to reports, the macOS 10.12.1 update that was released earlier contains hidden images that show a MacBook Pro with an OLED touch panel, as well as Touch ID.
The images are to show off Apple Pay and how it allow users to check out their shopping cart via Touch ID. Consistent with other leaks we’ve seen before, the OLED panel will sit on the top of the keyboard, replacing the function keys. Likely to be called the “Magic Toolbar”, it is also where the Touch ID sensor would be placed.
Shopping made easier with Touch ID on the MacBook Pro. Hopefully more ecommerce sites will support Touch ID
Apart from that, the MacBook Pro looks similar to the existing MacBook Pro. The one shown in the pictures above is likely a 13” variant, with speaker grills placed on either side of the keyboard. Sadly, other rumours such as the thickness, USB-C ports, and such are not shown in the pictures.
Apple’s launch event for the new MacBooks will be happening at 10am PDT on 27 October 2016, that’s 1am on 28 October 2016 for us, so stay tuned for the latest updates.
