Alongside its 10 Year Anniversary Edition products, ZOTAC also took the opportunity to introduce its new VR Go backpack. Complete with a chassis that is designed from ground up, the VR Go certainly looks like a major step forward from the prototype that we have seen at Computex 2016 few months ago.
Apart from the new chassis which made it more durable, ZOTAC has also redirected the thermal flow of the backpack to side of the backpack instead through the top. Together with headset and controller holders, VR Go also comes with cable ties that aim to help users manage all the lengthy cable from a VR headset.
ZOTAC has also equipped VR Go with even more I/O ports than previous prototype including six USB 3.0, two DisplayPort 1.3, and three HDMI 2.0 with some of them are position on top of the backpack for easy access. Other than that, the VR GO is also powered by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card.
ZOTAC somehow choose to equip the backpack with Intel Core i5-6400T processor as opposed to retaining the faster Core i5-6400 chip from previous prototype. That being said, the Core i5-6400T processor does consume less power than Core i5-6400 which could be one of the reason why VR GO has slightly longer battery life (2 hours) than the previous prototype (1.5 hours).
Comes standard with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB 2.5-inch hard drive, the 4.5kg backpack features two hot-swappable 9000mAh batteries. It is not known at the moment whether ZOTAC VR Go is ready to be released into the market but it is indeed another huge sign that ZOTAC is seriously looking into making a mark as one of the few pioneers in the virtual reality backpack market.
