After officially unveiling the Mi Note 2, Xiaomi has introduced yet another very, very interesting product. Featuring an almost bezel-less display, the Mi Mix is said to be a concept phone. Oddly enough, however, you can actually place your pre-order for the device, which is pretty confusing.
Regardless of its classification as a concept device, the Mi Mix is certainly an interesting flagship smartphone; it’s actually very similar in terms of design to the Sharp Corner R, which also has an almost bezel-less display. In the case of the Mi Mix, it has a sizeable 6.4-inch 2040 x 1080 display with an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91.3%.
As there is virtually no space on the top portion of the Mi Mix, the 5MP front-facing camera has been placed at the bottom right corner of the device. Other than that, the Mi Mix also has no earpiece; instead, the device relies on “cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology” to replace the earpiece.
Naturally, the Mi Mix is packed to the brim with high-end specifications. These include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor paired with up to 6GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of fast UFS 2.0 storage, a rear fingerprint sensor, a very generous 4,400mAh battery, a full ceramic body, as well as a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus. Interestingly, every purchase of the Mi Mix also comes with a leather case worth 299 Chinese yuan (about RM185).
Despite packing some really impressive hardware and design, the Xiaomi Mi Mix retails at only 3,499 yuan (approximately RM2,150) for the 128GB model with 4GB of RAM. The highest-end “Mi Mix 18K,” on the other hand, goes for 3,999 yuan (around RM2,455). The Mi Mix will be available for pre-order tonight in China; it still remains to be seen if it will be released in Malaysia.
