Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has launched a new app to interact with the public. Available on both Android and iOS, the self named app provides quick links to the PM’s social media and blog.
The created with the aim of providing people with a way to interact with the PM. It has pages for Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Najib’s blog, Instagram, Flickr, the 2017 Budget, and 1Malaysia news. All of which pull information and posts from the respective apps and pages.
Despite this, there is no actual way of contacting Najib through the app. The social media tabs do not provide a way to message anyone; while the feedback section looks like it is aimed squarely at fixing issues and bugs with the app.
Even the terms of use are largely centered on developer Resonate Digital’s disclaimers about the accuracy of the information presented. It almost feels like there is more concern with legal protection from making mistakes instead of presenting a complete product.
One last thing the Najib Razak app does is provide users with a brief history of our Prime Minister. This is complete with pictures of the early days of his career, which are honestly the most interesting part of the entire app. It at least shows a slice of what Malaysian politics were like back in the days before colour photography.
The Najib Razak app is currently available for download from the Google Play store and iOS App Store. It should be pointed out that there are two Najib Razak apps available on Google Play, and this official app has the developer listed as RDSB.
