Casio Malaysia and its long-time distribution partner Marco Heritage earlier today have launched two new Casio Exilim cameras for our market. They come in the form of EX-FR200 and EX-ZR5000 with each of them are made to cater different types of users.
At a glance, it might be quite to differentiate EX-FR200 from its predecessor – the EX-FR100 – which was just launched in Malaysia back in March since both devices have the same physical detachable design. However, there is one noticeable difference between them as FR200 is equipped with a fish eye lens.
With the help of the new lens, it allows users to snap photos at 185 degrees angle through a mode called Dome View alongside the pseudo-360 degrees Panorama setup and 208 degrees diagonal Super Wide Angle setting. At the same time, users are also able to pair two EX-FR200 cameras together to produce a proper 360 degrees images and videos.
Aside from the fish eye lens, the EX-FR200 also features a higher resolution 21-megapixels sensor that allows it to shoot videos at up to 4K resolution. That is much higher as compared to EX-FR100 that is limited to full HD (1920 x 1080) videos although the maximum recording time for EX-FR200 is still limited to 29 minutes.
Interestingly, Marco Heritage has stated that EX-FR100 will not be discontinued in our market despite the arrival of EX-FR200 in Malaysia. This is because the company believes that EX-FR100 provides slightly different experience to users as compared to its successor and furthermore, existing EX-FR100 owners can still consider getting EX-FR200 as well since a recent firmware update to FR100 allows them to be paired together to produce multi-angle images or videos.
The new firmware also allows users to control both cameras at the same time using just one controller. Available immediately in Malaysia, the EX-FR200 carries a price tag of RM 2,399 and each purchase will be accompanied by a 16GB memory card, a 10L waterproof dry bag, as well as an action camera adapter while stocks last.
As for Exilim ZR5000, one of its main attraction is the f/2.7 19mm super-wide-angle lens with 5x optical zoom alongside its dual-pipeline processing engine. To help eliminate the effect of hand jitter on the camera especially during low light condition and zoom shooting, the EX-ZR5000 also comes with 5-axis HS Anti Shake feature.
The EX-ZR5000 also feature a mode called Wide View Photo that simultaneously capture a close-up and wide-angle image before merging them into a short video clip. With the ability to record videos of up to full HD resolution, the 12.1-megapixels camera is also designed to cater selfie lovers through its Make-Up Mode that enhances skin tone as well as a convenient 3-inch LCD display that can be tilted up to 180 degrees.
Just like most of the newer Exilim cameras in the market, users are also able to take advantage of Exilim Connect app auto transfer feature to back up photos from the camera to their smartphones automatically. As per EX-FR200, the new EX-ZR5000 is also available immediately in Malaysia for RM 1,949.
