Pokemon Go is still a thing, despite the hype having died down. Niantic’s latest update for the game does not bring back Pokemon tracking, but instead introduces gameplay adjustments to make training at friendly gyms a little easier.
Trainers will now be able to assemble teams of six Pokemon for training at a friendly gym. Ideally, this reduces the grind for raising the gym’s level; which means that more people will be able to make space for themselves at higher level gyms.
In addition to leading a bigger team for training, the level of the defending Pokemon will also be adjusted to fit the level of the attacking team. This only applies to friendly training battles, and allows newer players to also participate in leveling gyms.
The Lucky Egg evolution trick has also gained a boost thanks to a decrease in evolution animation time. Niantic has not revealed how big the decrease is, but it should allow for more Pokemon to be evolved during that half hour.
Badges are also receiving some significance in the game. Collecting badges for catching Pokemon also makes Pokemon of the corresponding type easier to catch. In other words, it will become easier to catch Pokemon as your collection grows.
