Kaspersky Lab has announced the release of its flagship consumer products for the coming year. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2017 is an updated version of the company’s existing product, while the Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 offers a suite of new solutions for securing personal devices.
Interestingly, the Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 introduces the Secure Connection feature, which encrypts all user data being transmitted over the internet. The idea is that this will prevent sensitive information from being read in the event it is intercepted by a third party.
This is done through a VPN service that starts up, and users will have 200MB of encrypted data each day. Those who want even more data encryption can subscribe to a premium account, which provides unlimited encryption for $13.90 (about RM58) annually.
Kaspersky points out that this feature also works on mobile devices, which is intended to increase security while connecting to unfamiliar WiFi networks. One in five people falls victim to cybercrime while traveling due to this problem.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 are available for Windows, Mac, and Android. Prices range from RM100 (one device for one year) to RM249 (five devices for one year) for Kaspersky Internet Security; while Kaspersky Anti-Virus costs between RM39.90 and RM199.
One last thing is that Kaspersky’s local distributor is also planning a promotion for these flagship devices that involves lucky draws for those who purchase either product. The website for the promotion is not yet available, but the prizes include 200 pairs of Adidas NMD shoes and movie tickets.
