While this event might have the word “minor” in its name, don’t underestimate its scale though. With a total cash of USD 50,000 (about RM 207,402), the upcoming round of Counter Strike: Global Offensive Minor Championship Asia will also features top CS:GO teams from all over the region.
Presented by PGL and Astro’s dedicated eSports channel, eGG together with the cooperation of SoStronk, the event is scheduled to take place from 28 to 30 October 2016 at Pinewood Iskandar Studios, Johor. Apart from the cash prizes, top two teams in the championship will also receive a slot in the offline qualifier for the next CS:GO Major Championship – the ELEAGUE Major – which will take place at the end of January 2017 in Atlanta, USA.
Before teams are able to battle it out at Pinewood Iskandar, they need to go through open online qualifiers for the event first. Divided into several regions, the journey for Malaysian teams is tied to the South East Asia qualifier which starts from tomorrow onwards and offers two spots at the main offline event at Pinewood Iskandar.
For those who wondering on how to watch the event, eGG has yet to release the telecast schedule for the event but given that it is one of the event’s presenting sponsor, we have no doubt that it will be shown on the channel. Alternatively, gamers are also able to catch the championship online through PGL’s Twitch channel.
