Just last week, we spotted the Huawei Nova Plus and the MediaPad M3 in SIRIM’s database, which suggest that these two devices will be available in Malaysia soon. Now, we have also spotted the Huawei Nova in the database. Chances are, all three of these products will be launched locally at the same time in the near future.
Initially announced at IFA 2016, the Nova and Nova Plus smartphones are mid-range devices with premium build quality. While they’re not packed with the latest and greatest hardware, the Nova and Nova Plus are certainly well-designed; let’s not forget how similar the Nova is to the Nexus 6P, which was also manufactured by Huawei.
Under the hood, the Nova and Nova Plus are both equipped with 1080p displays (5-inch and 5.5-inch respectively), Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processors paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, and a 3,020mAh battery in the Nova; the Nova Plus has a bigger 3,340mAh cell instead. In the camera department, the Nova is packed with 12MP rear and 8MP front-facing cameras, while the Nova Plus has a 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation.
As for the MediaPad M3, it features a sharp 8.4-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display, a Kirin 950 processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, a large 5,100mAh battery, 8MP rear and 8MP front-facing snappers, and a home button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor. Interestingly enough, Huawei Malaysia has started posting teasers of the MediaPad M3 on its Facebook page, suggesting that the tablet will be arriving on our shores soon.
Seeing how Huawei Malaysia has already started teasing the MediaPad M3, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume that the Nova and Nova Plus will be arriving in Malaysia shortly as well; they’re already registered with SIRIM, after all, although this is merely an educated guess at this point in time. Regardless, we will keep a close eye on the availability of these products in Malaysia.
