Oculus is expected to unveil ‘something new’ at its Oculus Connect presentation tomorrow. The teaser came in the form of a photo of Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, wearing the Oculus Rift whilst handling the unreleased Oculus Touch controller. Interestingly, the photo came with an apt caption that says “Getting ready to demo something new we’ve been building in virtual reality’.
Judging by the photo, Oculus’ presentation tomorrow will most likely have nothing to do with gaming. Instead, it seems that Oculus will instead be unveiling a new feature that may have something to do with a different approach on social interactions using the Facebook platform – or not. Hence the involvement of the Oculus VR headset and controller in the teaser.
The idea of merging the social aspect of Facebook along and the virtual reality capabilities of Oculus isn’t something that is new to both companies. In fact, in February, the social media giant have established a ‘Social VR’ team, who’s main focus was to explore the prospect of social interactions via virtual reality.
Regardless, all will be revealed tomorrow during the Oculus Connect presentation – hopefully something jaw-dropping. Speaking of which, the presentation is due to begin at 10am pacific time, which will be around 1am in Malaysia.
