Fulfilling the promise that it has made last year, Nike has finally unveiled what deemed to be the true version of its self-lacing shoes that was depicted in Back To The Future II almost 30 years ago. Called Nike Mag, they are still not going to be released directly into retail stores though.
Instead, the company has once again partnered with Michael J. Fox Foundation to offer the shoes to public although this time around they have decided to do it via raffle system instead of eBay auction as per two years ago.
With each raffle ticket is priced at USD 10 (about RM 42), all proceed from the raffle will go directly to the foundation which is established with the purpose to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease. In general, this also means that everyone will the chance to get their hands on the shoes…well, almost everyone.
The raffle itself which will last until 11 October is only available to US and Canada residents while one pair will be auctioned off in Hong Kong, London, and New York within the next two months. Not to forget, there are only 89 pairs of Nike Mag with power laces available through this round of fund raiser for the foundation.

Meanwhile, let’s not forget there are another self-lacing Nike shoes – HyperAdapt 1.0 – that will be released next month. It might take a while before they are released outside of US but they are likely easier to obtain as compared to the Nike Mag.
