Maybank is now offering free WiFi for customers at 64 branches across Malaysia. It looks like an exercise of convenience for those waiting in line and would prefer to conserve their mobile data usage.
Getting access to the WiFi network requires customers to take a queue ticket, which will have a One-Time Password at the bottom of the ticket. It isn’t surprising that Maybank is keeping the network under a password; considering that it happens to be a bank and security happens to be a big deal.
At the moment, it looks like the free WiFi is only available at the larger Maybank branches; where people are more likely to end up in longer queues. The bank has a list of its branches equipped with the service, and it interestingly looks like there is a good spread across the country.
