Just as a local telco revealed the release date for the new iPhone 7 in Malaysia instead of Apple itself, three local Apple resellers have unveiled the official retail prices of the iPhone 7 in Malaysia.
Switch, Mac Studio, and Machines, the three premium resellers of Apple products in Malaysia, have announced the local pricing for the two new iPhones coming to Malaysia on 14 October. The good news is that Apple has stuck to its standard pricing strategy for both devices, but there’s no hiding the fact that these are the most expensive smartphones to retail in Malaysia.
The iPhone 7 starts from RM3,199 in Malaysia, while the iPhone 7 Plus retails from RM3,799 – RM100 more than the iPhone 6s Plus. As usual, the price goes up in increments of RM500 for higher storage options; as revealed at the global launch, the new iPhones have significantly larger storage options of 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
The prices are exactly what we predicted earlier this month, based on the iPhone’s historical pricing as well as prices for the new iPhone around the world. Malaysians can get the iPhones at lower prices via telcos, where the iPhones can be purchased at subsidised prices with a postpaid contract. Celcom and Maxis have already announced that pre-orders for the new iPhone will commence from 7 October.
Otherwise, e-commerce sites such as Lazada, 11street, and Gemfive may all also offer lower prices for the devices, and they could be even cheaper with the various promo codes you can find online.
Surprisingly, Apple’s official website has not made any announcement yet.
