Corsair has unveiled its lineup of Dominator Platinum Special Edition DDR4 RAM kits. Corsair’s newest RAM kits will come in either a ‘Chrome’ or a “Blackout’ finish. Either way, both variants do look absolutely stunning; and are also pretty powerful.
Aesthetically, Corsair says that the Chrome Dominator Platinum Special Edition DDR4 RAM module gets its shine through being covered with a highly polished aluminium, which gives it the mirror-like look. The top part of the RAM module is sandblasted to give it a more textured finish. In contrast, the Blackout variant features a matte black brushed aluminium finish instead.
To make the Dominator Platinum Special Edition DDR4 RAM kits even more special, Corsair has decided to add a light bar on top of its memory modules to highlight the ‘Dominator’ logo. When it comes to performance, Corsair claims that its newest RAM lineup will be able to churn out frequency speeds of 3200MHz, although it is said that they are also able to reach speeds up to 3600MHz, safely. These memory modules are rated for 1.35V along with a timing of 14-16-16-36.
According to Corsair, its Dominator Platinum Special Edition DDR4 RAM kits are able to reach these frequency speeds because they are “built with the highest grade sorted ICs, 10-layer PCB, patented DHX cooling technology, and hand screening done by Corsair’s memory engineers to ensure maximum overclocking reliability and performance”.
Of course, being ‘special editions’ means that Corsair’s Dominator Platinum Special Edition DDR4 RAM kits will not come cheap. A 32GB (4 x 8GB) kit comes with a price tag of US$329.99 (about RM1,357). Meanwhile, the 32GB (2 x 16GB) RAM kit will cost US$299.99 (around RM1,234).
It’s worth noting that the Dominator Platinum Special Edition DDR4 RAM kits are currently only available in the United Kingdom, Germany, and United States. Malaysian availability should follow soon.
