Biostar is well known throughout the PC industry for manufacturing products of not only decent quality, but also ones that have respectable prices. This is pretty apparent when looking at the company’s first ever gaming mouse called the AM2.
Nothing about the Biostar AM2 gaming mouse is flamboyant; unlike many gaming mice in the market currently. This isn’t necessarily bad though, some people do prefer subtle-designed products. The gaming mouse features a white and grey colour scheme, which surprisingly is aesthetically pleasing to look at.
Biostar mentioned that the AM2 was “designed for comfort, performance and durability”. The gaming mouse features an Avago 5050 optical sensor that is capable of tracking movements of up to 4500fps along with a maximum tracking speed of 30ips (inches per second). There are, in total, four different DPI presets to chose from: 800, 1,200, 1,600, and 2,400.
The Biostar AM2 gaming mouse has three clickable buttons along with one scroll wheel. According to the company, its gaming mouse uses the Huano switch, which are rated for a lifespan of 10 million clicks. Fret not, the AM2 does have LED elements. To be more specific, the ‘+’ sign along the palm rest area and the scroll wheel is LED-lit. Unfortunately, the LED colours are not freely customisable, but they do change depending on the DPI setting.
When it comes to dimensions, the Biostar AM2 gaming mouse has a measurement of 122mm x 66mm x 38mm, and it only weighs 125 grams. Biostar have also generously included a 1.8m-long cable along with the gaming mouse. What makes the AM2 even more impressive is its price. It costs just US$10 (about RM40). That’s probably cheaper than most knockoff gaming mice scattered around Low Yat plaza. PC gamers on a budget should definitely keep an eye out for this one.
