To celebrate the release of FIFA 17 later this week, Nike has launched a special edition football boot in collaboration with the game’s creator, EA Sports. In order to come out with the design for the boot, designers at Nike looked for inspiration from the evolution of the game’s graphics.
This is why the medial side of the special edition Mercurial Superfly boot features pixelated graphics that represent FIFA’s 16-bit era before transitioning to smoother lines on the lateral side of the boot which signify the current age of high definition graphics. The same concept is also applied to the Mercurial logo on the boot.
In addition to that, the boot also features EA Sports logo on its heel as well as sockliner and lace. To complete the package, the boot also features iridescent plate and comes in a specially designed box. With only 1,500 pairs are available throughout the world, this could be a great and unique memento for FIFA fans out there.
Hence, we have reach out to Nike in order to find out if some of these booth will make their way into Malaysia via retail stores. Meanwhile, FIFA 17 players are also able to unlocked the virtual version of the boot once their level are high enough in the game.
(UPDATE – 23 Sept: Nike Malaysia’s representative have confirmed to us that the boot will not be available in our market. So sorry, FIFA fans. We feel you.)
