Meizu has been really, really quiet in Malaysia. After all, many of its newer devices have not been launched locally. However, it appears the company is preparing to bring in its latest smartphone to Malaysia. Namely, its newest flagship smartphone, the Meizu MX6.
Announced back in July 2016, we spotted the Meizu MX6 in SIRIM’s database. Registered under Dynamics Distribution with the model number “MX6 (M685H),” it’s likely Meizu is prepping to release the device in our country.
That being said, we also spotted two other Meizu devices in SIRIM’s database last month: the Meizu M3 Note and M3s. Despite this, we have not heard from Meizu of any launch event for these smartphones, which is quite peculiar. Then again, just because these devices have been registered with SIRIM, there’s no guarantee that they’ll be officially available in Malaysia.
Regardless, the Meizu MX6 is definitely an interesting smartphone. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a MediaTek Helio X20 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of non-expandable storage, as well as a 3,060mAh battery. Rounding out the specifications of the MX6 are a fingerprint sensor, a 12MP camera with phase detection autofocus, and a 5MP front-facing shooter.
At the time of this writing, it still remains to be seen if the Meizu MX6 will in fact be launched here in Malaysia. If it does make it here officially, its competitive price tag – it goes for only 1,999 Chinese yuan (about RM1,240) in China – may make it a compelling flagship smartphone.
