A few weeks ago, we reported that MSI was planning to release a liquid-cooled GTX 1080 to commemorate its 30th anniversary. At long last, the company has made the graphics card official, and it’s called the GeForce GTX 1080 30th Anniversary – a very descriptive name.
Aesthetically, MSI’s GTX 1080 30th Anniversary graphics card is has a matte black finish that surrounds the EK waterblock in front of the graphics card as well as the backplate. Complementing these are silver metallic accents found in front of the card, which features etched logos of both MSI and EK along with a bold ’30th Anniversary’ signature. The backplate features similar details as well.
Not surprisingly, MSI did not forget to add in LED elements onto the GTX 1080 30th Anniversary graphics card. Though not mentioned specifically, it seems that the MSI/EK logo on the front waterblock and backplate of the graphics card are illuminated (RGB lighting, of course). It’s also worth noting that MSI’s newest graphics card uses a closed loop liquid-cooling solution (made by EK); this means that it does not require one to have a water cooling loop in their systems – just ‘plug and play’ if you will.
When it comes to performance, MSI mentioned that its GTX 1080 30th Anniversary graphics card boast a base and boost GPU clock speeds of 1721MHz and 1860MHz respectively. Other specifications of the graphics card remain similar to that of MSI’s other GTX 1080 offerings.
Price and date of availability was not mentioned by MSI, but the company did say that the GTX 1080 30th Anniversary graphics card will be limited. Knowing this, one should expect the graphics card to bear a hefty price tag.
