Officially announced just yesterday, Samsung’s latest tablet, the Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen, is making its way into the Malaysian market. Once this tablet is launched on our shores, it will be joining the 7-inch variant of the tablet, which was made available in Malaysia back in May 2016.
Naturally, we first caught wind of the new Galaxy Tab A (2016)’s arrival in Malaysia when we searched through SIRIM’s database. Registered with the certification body under Samsung Malaysia with the model number “SM-P585Y,” a quick Google search even led us to the product manual of the tablet on Samsung Malaysia’s website.
This new variant of the Galaxy Tab A (2016) differs in several aspects over the standard model. Most noteworthy is the addition of an S Pen, which is packed with the same features as the S Pen of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Other than that, it also has more RAM and storage at 3GB and 32GB respectively; it has a microSD card slot as well, which supports cards up to 256GB.
Rounding out the specifications of the new Galaxy Tab A (2016) are a 10.1-inch IPS display, an Exynos 7870 1.6GHz octa-core processor, 8MP rear and 2MP front-facing cameras, as well as a 7,300mAh battery. This tablet also has optional support for 4G LTE.
At the time of this writing, we have not heard from Samsung Malaysia of any upcoming launch event. Since the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen has already been registered with SIRIM, we expect it to be launched locally in the very near future.
