Samsung has unveiled a new variant of the affordable Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) tablet, featuring the new S Pen that’s found on the Galaxy Note 7. Currently it’s only available in its native market in South Korea, but a global launch is expected.
Officially called the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen, it is essentially a minor upgrade from the current 10.1-inch version that’s already in the market. The new version sports the same Exynos 7870 1.6GHz octa-core processor, a 10.1-inch IPS display, 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras, 7,300mAh battery, and optional 4G LTE support.
Naturally, the new addition here is the S Pen, as well as larger memory and storage at 3GB and 32GB respectively. A microSD card slot is also present for cheap expansion up to an additional 256GB. What’s interesting is the fact that this tablet incorporates the new S Pen features found on the Galaxy Note 7.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen is priced at 489,000 won (about RM1,800), and is currently only available in South Korea. A global rollout is expected in the coming months. A separate Book Cover offers two different usage types (Viewing Mode and Typing Mode), and is sold separately.
