Respawn Entertainment is bringing Titanfall to Android and iOS as Titanfall Frontline. Except that it will look nothing like the Titanfall we know, and is a card game. There are few details about how this will play out, but it vaguely resembles a couple of existing CCGs – most notably Hearthstone.
From the description on the announcement page, Titanfall Frontline will allow players to “combine your Pilots and Titans to deal extra damage.” Most observers are likening the game to Hearthstone, although the screenshots seem to indicate some similarity with a Japanese cardgame known as Sunrise Crusade (and Gundam Crusade). A game that already uses the ability to combine pilots and mecha to increase damage potential.
Respawn is also saying that there will be the option to upgrade existing cards to make them stronger, which looks like it will require the destruction of other cards.
Interestingly, Respawn does not appear to be the developer behind Titanfall Frontline. That work is being done by mobile developer Nexon; which has made games like DomiNations and Monster Squad.
There’s no release date for Titanfall Frontline just yet, but we expect it to be made available at around the same time Titanfall 2 arrives. Which isn’t too far off, considering that there is a supposed November released date.
