It’s been a while since we’ve seen a free game giveaway on the internet, but it’s good to see that the season is once again upon us. The folks at Humble Bundle are currently giving away Tropico 4 for the next 32 hours (as of this story) to celebrate the start of the Humble Store End of Summer Sale.
Tropico 4 is a city building game set in the style of Sim City; with the twist that the player also happens to be a dictator of a banana republic. It’s up to the player to manage dissent while also building a massive city for his citizens. Like all good dictators, this management does not always have to be pleasant for the troublemakers.
The sale itself is decent, although it lacks the same kind of incredibly low prices that Steam has. Most of this is due to the differences in currency, which isn’t exactly Humble Bundle’s fault on that.
Unlike Steam sales, the Humble Store offers the option for customers to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Child’s Play charity. Child’s Play is a gamer run organisation that buys games and toys for children in hospitals around the world. It has raised some $40 million (about RM120 million) since it was founded by the people behind the Penny Arcade webcomic back in 2003.
