Initially announced for iOS, it appears Super Mario Run will be coming to Android devices as well. As the first official Mario game for mobile phones, this is quite a big deal; it looks like a pretty fun game too.
Unfortunately, although Nintendo confirmed that Super Mario Run will be coming to Android, the Japanese company did not reveal exactly when the game will be released on the platform. That being said, it’s great to see that Nintendo isn’t limiting the first Mario game for mobile phones on iOS only.
Even though it’s a mobile game, Super Mario Run features the same graphics as New Super Mario Bros.; a Nintendo DS game released back in 2006. Considering the many improvements found in the new iPhone 7, it’s not surprising to see that the device has graphical power rivaling that of a handheld console in 2006. Then again, it remains to be seen how well the game will run – especially on Android devices – when it is actually released.
Super Mario Run is expected to be released on iOS sometime in December this year as a free download; a one-time payment would be required to unlock the full game. It remains to be seen just when the mobile game will arrive on Android, but it’s probably safe to assume it will only be available at a later date.
