Robot vacuum cleaners generally retail for quite a bit of money, and that’s what makes Xiaomi’s latest product that much more compelling. Dubbed the Mi Robot Vacuum, it is a high-end product that goes for 1,699 Chinese yuan – that’s only about RM1,035.
As expected of a high-end robot vacuum cleaner, the Mi Robot Vacuum is capable of mapping out how a particular home is laid out and calculate the best cleaning path. It is also packed with as many as 12 sensors, including a laser distance sensor (LDS), ultrasonic radar sensor, cliff sensor, and of course, gyroscope and accelerometer.

According to Xiaomi, the Mi Robot Vacuum features a Nidec brushless DC motor, which can generate up to 1800Pa of air pressure. This robot vacuum also has a 5,200mAh battery – it can supposedly last for up to 2.5 hours – as well as three dedicated processors for real-time mapping and positioning.
Not surprisingly, the Mi Robot Vacuum is a product of Rockrobo, one of the many companies under the Mi Ecosystem. As with any products under it, the Mi Robot Vacuum works with the Mi Home app. “It allows users to switch on and control Mi Robot Vacuum remotely, and also set regular cleaning schedules,” as Xiaomi puts it.
The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum is currently available for purchase in China. While it’s highly unlikely to be launched here in Malaysia – as is the case with Xiaomi’s range of smart products – we imagine it will be brought into our country one way or another; just be ready to pay a premium for it.
