If you think the headline above sounds like a sales pitch from a real estate agent, you are definitely not far off from the truth. That being said, it is actually the result from a recent cooperation between Telekom Malaysia (TM) and I&P Group which is a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad.
Under the deal, future owners of I&P Group’s upcoming properties in Klang Valley and Johor will be able to enjoy for 12 months of free subscription to UniFi Advance 30 Mbps with HyppTV Aneka Pack. While the developer didn’t point out any specific areas but it did mention that TM will be deploying telecommunication services at I&P Group’s future projects for the next three years.
Based on I&P Group’s official website which listed a number of upcoming residential projects, the deployment could possibly take place at (but not limited to) Brogaville in Semenyih as well as Meru in Klang and Salak Tinggi in Dengkil for Selangor. For Johor, the website listed Taman Pelangi, Taman Pelangi Indah 2, and Tanjung Kupang as I&P Group’s future development areas at the state.
Essentially, this deal might seem nothing more than a standard partnership between two corporations but what actually interests us is whether this deal is able to fuel interest among other developers in Malaysia to make their residential projects more friendly to high speed broadband infrastructure. This is because TM has previously pointed out in its media briefing last year that housing areas and buildings that are HSBB-friendly will help the company accelerate UniFi roll-out to more users.
Furthermore, the ability for house owners to utilize high speed broadband almost immediately after they moved into their spanking new house is certainly a great pitch that developers can take advantage to attract buyers. As long as these developers are able to deliver on their promises, of course.
