Xiaomi is much more than just a smartphone company, that much is certain. After all, the Chinese company has unveiled a range of products from a smart rice cooker to a simple pen. Now, it appears the company is gearing up to launch…a robot vacuum cleaner.
Details of this mysterious robot vacuum cleaner first surfaced when a purported image of the product’s packaging along with a screenshot of its app were leaked. Based on these two information alone, Xiaomi’s foray into the robot vacuum cleaner market does seem very likely.
More recently, a video comparing the Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner to iRobot’s popular Roomba 880 vacuum has been leaked. In the video, it shows how much faster – and efficient – Xiaomi’s product is in comparison to the Roomba 880; this is said to be attributed to the Xiaomi vacuum cleaner’s path planning function.
Chances are, this robot vacuum cleaner – if it turns out to be an actual product from Xiaomi – will fall under the company’s Mijia branding; products with this branding are essentially items produced under the “Mi Ecosystem.” Based on leaked information of the product, we wouldn’t be surprised if Xiaomi really is working on a robot vacuum cleaner.
Whether or not this Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner is merely a rumour or not will be revealed this coming Wednesday on the 31st of August; the product is said to be made official on that day.
