Huawei has been posting numerous teasers on its social media accounts, all of which point to a product launch that will take place at IFA 2016. Naturally, many are expecting the Chinese company to unveil a successor to either the Mate 8 or the Mate S. However, it appears the new product will be under an entirely new mid-range series instead.
This confirmation came from a Huawei executive, which mentioned that the device set to be unveiled at IFA 2016 this week will not be a successor to either the Mate 8 or Mate S. The executive then elaborated that we’ll be seeing the launch of a mid-range smartphone instead; the device will apparently debut under a brand new series.
Although the Huawei executive did not reveal anything further on the mysterious new smartphone, the individual did reveal that a new Mate smartphone will be released in the next couple of months. The device in question will also be introduced with a new version of the company’s Emotion UI. Chances are, it may be based on the recently introduced Android 7.0 Nougat.
It’s no mystery that Huawei has made great strides in the smartphone industry as of late, especially after the company collaborated with Google to manufacture the Nexus 6P. It’ll be interesting to see what Huawei’s upcoming smartphone will bring to the table this coming Thursday on 1 September.
