After numerous teasers, honor Malaysia has finally announced a local launch event for its latest flagship smartphone, the honor 8. Set to be unveiled on our shores in the next two weeks on the 6th of September, the honor 8 will be the first proper flagship smartphone from the company to arrive here in 2016.
honor Malaysia’s last flagship smartphone was the honor 7, which was launched locally last year. Although a different variant of the honor 7 was introduced earlier this year – the honor 7 Enhanced Edition – it’s not exactly a brand new flagship smartphone. The honor 8, on the other hand, is the company’s best flagship device yet.
Under the hood of the honor 8 is a capable HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor – it’s the same chipset found in the Huawei Mate 8. Other than that, the honor 8 also has a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, up to 4GB of RAM, two choices of expandable storage (32GB or 64GB), a 3,000mAh battery, as well as a rear fingerprint sensor. Rounding out the specifications of the honor 8 are two 12MP rear cameras, an 8MP front-facing shooter, and of course, a glass and metal construction.
Although honor Malaysia has not revealed the retail price or exact variant of the honor 8 for the Malaysian market yet, we believe there will be two different models of the device in Malaysia; we spotted two different model numbers of the honor 8 in SIRIM. Hopefully, honor will price its latest flagship smartphone competitively in Malaysia.
