Even though it is mainly targeted for business users, the HP Elite x3 Windows 10-based smartphone managed to attract attention when it was announced to the world back at MWC 2016. This is mainly due to its ability to transform into a laptop through Mobile Extender lapdock thanks to the Continuum feature that is built into Windows 10.
Back in June, a representative from HP Malaysia have stated that the phone will be made available in Malaysia by September this year. True enough, we have received the first concrete sign that Elite x3 will indeed coming to Malaysia within the said period.
Shown above is a price list of HP products that are being offered to the company’s staff at one of its establishment in Cyberjaya and it clearly stated that the new Elite X3 carries a price tag of RM 3,599. Customers will also receive a Desk Dock together with the phone which allows them to connect the smartphone to a monitor or TV screen and utilize the Elite x3 as a Windows 10 desktop PC which is also made possible by Continuum.
Our tipster further stated that the smartphone will be delivered in two weeks’ time to all HP staff that pre-ordered the device. However, no words on when the Elite x3 will actually be made available to members of the public.
At that price tag, this made HP Elite X3 as not only the most expensive Windows 10 smartphone in the market but also among the most expensive smartphone in Malaysia (minus Vertu devices, of course). While it is easy to point out how absurd that price tag is, it is also easy to overlook the number of premium components that have been equipped into the device which include Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB DDR4 RAM, 5.96-inch 2560×1440 display, fingerprint reader, and iris scanner.
As unique as it is, even the most hardcore Windows fan might want to take a little bit more time to decide whether Elite X3 is worth the asking price. Furthermore, Elite x3 would cost even higher if one decide to purchase it with Mobile Extender.
