Last month, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia has confirmed that PlayStation VR headset will be heading to Malaysia on 13 October. Pre-order for the new device was opened few days after the announcement was made but interestingly, SIEJA apparently have managed to sold out the pre-order allocations for Malaysia according to a post on PlayStation Asia’s official Facebook page yesterday.
This confirmation comes in less than one month after the pre-order program took place on 30 July. At first, we were curious whether this only applies to Sony Stores and Sony Malaysia’s online store but a quick check only showed that the same case also applies to five other PlayStation Authorized outlets in Klang Valley that accept pre-order for PS VR.
Interestingly though, these stores managed to sold out their pre-order allocations much earlier than PlayStation Asia’s announcement. For example, Gamers Hideout posted out its sold out notice on its Facebook page at 9pm on 30 July – not even 12 hours after the pre-order was officially opened. By 4 August, the three other official stores have posted their sold out notice.
That being said though, all these stores are still taking pre-orders but such customers will only receive their PS VR in second batch of shipment which the arrival date has yet to be confirmed by the respective stores. For those who are wondering, PS VR will be made available in Malaysia as a stand-alone unit at RM 1,849 while the PS VR with PS Camera bundle is priced at RM 2,029.
