For those of you who are using a Nexus device, it’s time to check for your much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update. “the sweetest release yet”. The update will be available as an over the air update starting today.
Android 7.0 Nougat is available for selected Nexus devices including the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus Player, Nexus 9, Pixel C and Android One devices. Devices enrolled under the Android Beta Program will also receive the update. Back in the initial announcement at the I/O 2016 event, Google said that the app installation will be quicker now at 75% faster than before, and the application size will be reduced by 50%.
Just a little reminder, Android 7.0 Nougat features a host of new features and improvements. It is now more productive, allowing you to run two apps side-by-side, reply directly to notifications without having to open any apps, and lets you switch between two most recently used apps by double tapping the Overview button. It is also more secure with enhanced security features for Android in enterprise. New devices will also receive new features like seamless updates, file-based encryption and Direct Boot.
Other notable changes include new emojis, a new Quick Settings control, multi-locale support, an improved Doze feature that gives you a prolonged battery life, support for Daydream, and more.
