Just recently, we reported on leaked images of what seems to be a new version of the PlayStation 4. At the time, it was unclear if the console in question was the new PlayStation Neo, but now, it’s likely that the mysterious PS4 is a slim version of the popular console.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Sony will be releasing two new versions of the PS4 next month. These include the highly anticipated PlayStation Neo as well as a slimmer PS4. In the past, Sony has released numerous variants of its gaming consoles. The PlayStation 3 alone, for instance, had its design revised several times, which aimed to make it smaller, slimmer and more power-efficient with every revision. More likely than not, Sony will continue this trend with the new PS4.
The PlayStation Neo, on the other hand, is a new thing for Sony: the company has never introduced a more powerful variant of its home console before. Even though the Neo will be more capable than the standard PS4, Sony mentioned that these two consoles will co-exist with each other; every PS4 game released will support both machines.
It will be very interesting to see just what the new slim PS4 is capable of when it is officially unveiled next month. Of course, the Neo is equally – if not more – interesting as well. We will find out more on the 7th of September, where Sony is expected to introduce these two consoles.
