Sony Interactive Entertainment is set to announce a new console next month, but it would seem that leaks have gotten the better of the company. Images of what is purportedly the new slim version of the PlayStation 4 appeared in a listing on an online auction site; and were followed by more images on NeoGAF.
All that is known about the leaked console is that it looks vaguely like a PS4, although it seems to have picked up rounded edges and a matte finish. Oddly enough, this slim version is less striking than the full sized PS4. A later image also indicates that the console has 500GB of storage; which is about par for the course.
The actual hardware inside the PS4 Slim is not yet known; especially since SIE is said to be working on a 4K capable version of the PS4 called the PS4 Neo. There is still a chance that the two could be the same device. Ideally, Sony would be phasing out the older specifications for the PS4; although that may not still be the case.
The auction listing has already been taken down, although the leaked images are still floating about. SIE is not saying anything about it, which means that we will need to wait until Sony’s own event to find out more details.
