MSI has unveiled a new addition to its Carbon motherboard lineup called the 970A Gaming Pro Carbon. Interestingly, this would be the first motherboard in the Carbon series to feature an AMD AM3+ socket.
Like other Carbon motherboards released before, the 970A Gaming Pro Carbon is covered in a matte black finish and complemented with carbon fiber accents on some of its components. Keeping up with the “RGB everywhere” trend, MSI’s latest gaming motherboard too features RGB lighting that can be found alongside the heatsink located at the bottom left of the motherboard.
Aesthetics aside, the MSI 970A Gaming Pro Carbon features a brand new PCB design, where one will find an 8-pin EPS and 24-pin ATX power connectors. Expansion-wise, the gaming motherboard is fitted with two PCIe x16 slots; three PCIe x1 slot; and a single legacy PCI slot. According to MSI, the PCIe x16 slots are further reinforced with metal reinforcement braces to allow for an increase in longevity.
When in comes to connectivity options, the MSI 970A Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard comes with a single 20Gbps M.2 slot and six SATA 6Gbps ports. I/O ports include two USB 3.1 (Type-A) ports; four USB 3.0 ports; and one Ethernet port.
Price and date of availability for the MSI 970A Gaming Pro Carbon was not given; however, we do expect the company to be announcing both details soon.
