We certainly have a number of interesting encounters with Webe, especially with the string of information that we’ve managed to discover back in April. In general, the telco has actually begun to allow selected TM and P1 customers to access its service two months ago but it is only today that TM has finally provided a grand launch for the brand new telco.
In his speech, the newly appointed CEO for Webe, Azizi A Hadi, stated that the company deemed itself as not just an ordinary telco but as a digital service provider instead. This is because the company, which also acts at TM Group’s mobility center of excellence, believes that it is not just about getting more speed or quota but about getting more done which is also one of the main reasons why Webe decided to offer an unlimited plan.
For those who are not familiar with Webe’s unlimited plan, it is priced for as low as RM 83.74 (including GST) depending on the rebates that are applicable to customers. Under the plan which does not come with a contract, customers have virtually unlimited access to webe’s LTE 850 network as well as SMS and calls through traditional GSM cellular network which is backed by its partnership with Celcom.
That being said, the access to Webe is still via invite only although Azizi has pointed out in his speech that the full public access to the service will take place later this year. Specifically, Azizi further clarified in the media Q&A session that the telco is targeting to do so within early Q4 of this year.
During the same Q&A, Azizi also explained that the reason why Webe is launching its services in stages is because it don’t want to open the floodgates and affect customers’ experience. The CMO of Webe, Lai Shu Wei further added that the telco is also studying customers behaviors in order to continuously improve Webe’s service before making it available to more customers.
