DisplayMate, which is a well-known for analysing display technologies – it is also an independent entity – has released its verdict on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7‘s display. According to the company, the Note 7’s display is the most impressive panel it has ever tested, besting even the displays of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S7.
According to DisplayMate, there are various display performance records that the Galaxy Note 7 managed to match or break. These include a high peak brightness of 1,048 nits, an impressive contrast rating in ambient light, as well as very low screen reflectance. In essence, the Galaxy Note 7’s display has very good outdoor visibility, among other things.
Other than that, the Note 7’s display is also said to have very accurate colours, which will definitely please those who think AMOLED displays have unnecessarily saturated colours. On top of that, DisplayMate mentioned in its analysis that the Note 7 is the first smartphone to have a secondary ambient light sensor on the back of the device, which results in “significantly improved automatic brightness.”
