Sony Interactive Entertainment has scheduled an event for the 7th of September. It is expected that the company will be announcing the PlayStation Neo, seeing that it is just before the launch date for the PlayStation VR.
According to the invitation, the event will be to talk “about the PlayStation business.” What this means is completely uncertain, but SIE has said that it will also be livestreaming the “PlayStation Meeting.” In other words, this likely to be a big deal for the company; which only reinforces the rumour of a new console.
Codenamed the ‘Neo’, the supposed upgraded PlayStation 4 is not technically a new console. Rather, it is said to be the same platform with improved hardware – to deal with the demands of VR technology. The same reports indicate that the increased power will also allow the console to play games at higher resolutions. Whether it will be able to crack 4K is still completely unknown.
For now, it is a matter of waiting to see what PlayStation has in store for us. If anything, it will be interesting to see just how much better the PlayStation 4 can get.
