Almost everyone would have heard of MSI when it comes to gaming laptops. Just recently, the Taiwanese company is said to be the world’s largest gaming notebook player in the world; that’s quite an impressive feat.
Naturally, this isn’t a claim made by MSI itself; the company sourced it from a research done by Topology Research Institute, which provides “accurate information on industry and market trends,” according to the company’s website. Based on the research, MSI is said to have 19% market share when it comes to gaming notebooks, followed closely by Asus and Dell at 15% and 9% respectively.
However, it’s worth noting that the research only take into account gaming laptops, not “semi-gaming” ones. Semi-gaming laptops, in this case, are those that are equipped with Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M GPUs, but do not have any features “designed for gamers.” Needless to say, the exclusion of such laptops may skew the results of the research somewhat, although that is not to say it is not a valid study.
Nonetheless, Topology Research Institute’s study does show that MSI is a big player in the gaming notebook market. After all, most of its laptops are targeted at gamers with its range of gaming-centric features. It will be interesting to see what else the company will unveil in the very near future.
