It has been close to two years since the Apple Watch was first introduced, but yet, Apple has not released any successor to its first-ever smartwatch. However, if a recent leak is to be believed, the Cupertino company may unveil two new Apple Watch models in the second half of 2016.
According to the leak, one of the two models is a slight improvement over the current generation Apple Watch. It is said to be packing more modern internals such as an improved processor along with better waterproofing. Seeing how this variant of the new Apple Watch won’t be that much different from the one in the market now, it may be positioned as an entry-level offering.
The other variant of the next Apple Watch, on the other hand – dubbed Apple Watch 2 – will be a more significant upgrade. It will allegedly feature several new hardware, such as a GPS radio, a barometer, a thinner display, as well as a bigger battery.
Unfortunately, if this leak is accurate, the next Apple Watch will not be drastically different in terms of design over the current one. On top of that, the leak is also suggesting that a more significant redesign of the Apple Watch will only happen in 2018.
Nonetheless, it still remains to be seen just when the Cupertino company will unveil these new models of the Apple Watch. Seeing how the next iPhone – or iPhones – is rumoured to be introduced next month in September, the new Apple Watch may be unveiled at the same time as well.
