Another day, another leak; this time round, key details regarding Nvidia’s heavily rumoured mobile GTX 1070 GPU have been leaked, along with new information regarding Radeon’s upcoming R9 M480 mobile GPU.
First up is the GTX 1070 mobile GPU. According to sources from China, performance benchmarks of the mobile GPU has been leaked trough Baidu, and it comes with interesting results. Based on the information, it can be can see that the GTX 1070 mobile GPU easily surpasses the performance of a full “fat” mobile GTX 980 GPU.
Besides that, the 3D Mark scores of the GTX 1070 mobile GPU is only slightly behind that of the desktop-grade GTX 980 Ti graphics card. The same can also be said about its precision compute performance. A Unigine Heaven Benchmark table shows that the peak GPU clock speed of the GTX 1070 mobile GPU is around 1822MHz.
Next, we have the Radeon R9 M480 mobile GPU, which hasn’t been rumored greatly over these few months. Thankfully, new information about the mobile GPU has been leaked and according the source, the leaked information came from HP’s presentation slides for its upcoming Omen and Shadow gaming laptops; which are believed to be equipped with the Polaris 11 GPU.
Despite bearing “480” in its name, consumers shouldn’t expect the R9 M480 to be as powerful as the RX 480 graphics card. The leaked slides indicate that the performance of the R9 M480 is on-par with that of the Radeon RX 460 graphics card. In addition, the performance of the mobile GPU is said to be faster than Nvidia’s GTX 970M GPU as well.
Regardless, as with any other rumours and leaks regarding mobile GPUs, we advice our readers to take this one with a grain of salt.
